Generations team published in EDUCAUSE Review
The UCF Generations team presented a panel discussion at EDUCAUSE's NLII 2005 event in New Orleans. Since then, the discussion that took place has been turned into an article, and published in the EDUCAUSE Review, the official magazine of EDUCAUSE. You can read the full text of the article (PDF, 380KB) online, or look at our Resources page for more articles and links.
About:
In June 2004, UCF hosted a professional development event sponsored by the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU), EDUCAUSE, and Microsoft Corporation. Twelve universities were selected to send teams that included their presidents, provosts, and chief information officers.
Students employed by Course Development & Web Services (CDWS) presented technology parlors during a reception at this professional development event. The students were then invited to present at Educause's annual meeting for the National Learning Infrastructure Initiative.
This site is designed to capture the different generations such as Baby Boomers, Generation X-ers, and the Millenials and how they each feel about the emerging technologies. All of them are proficient with using technology and have their own concepts as to what Higher Education should do. The site will also contain the commonalities that transcend all the generations, as well as the differences. It is our hope that colleges and universities will view this site and come to a better understanding of what the next generation will be looking for in higher education.
